Artist Statement
My name is Sydney Gruber, and I have creative hands with an entrepreneur spirit. I create focal point paintings that draw people towards the pulse of life in color. My art is an invitation to a world of raw energy. The mirror of art allows us to glimpse ourselves, and I create intuitively by coming alive in the studio and sharing what I find as my way of relating to the world.
I like to play the role of interpreter. I strive to match reason with passion and oscillate between living like the salt of the earth and sucking the nectar out of life. Art is my alchemy—I spend a lot of time exploring the relationship between the internal and external when I am painting chess sets and abstract meditations. In one medium or another, I am seeking Sydney Gruber and the connection to something more. In seeking myself, I have found all of you.
