“The simplest things in life are the most extraordinary. Let them reveal themselves.” - Paulo Coelho, Manuscript Found in Accra

Falcons are visual predators built for reaction time, and they process motion and visual stimuli much faster than humans. Since they are so visually oriented, falcons are not fearful of what they cannot see. In other words—if they cannot see it, then it must not be there.

Fear is an inherent part of the human condition, and we often have our own hoods we willingly fasten to our heads—or at least our blindspots shielding us from that which we do not desire to acknowledge.

In the wake of change, it’s no surprise I have worked through many of my apprehensions in the studio. For me, sharing art is about expression and community. As an artist, I identify as someone exploring the dynamic between creator and audience. However, my profession does not make me unblemished in this practice of playing hide and seek with myself. After all, recognizing and course correcting where we are dishonest with ourselves promotes growth.
